TPO Membrane Exposed Roofing System (Fully Bonded)

Description:

This roofing assembly consist of a single-ply thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) membrane fully bonded with bonding adhesives over Polyiso insulation foam board fixed over sloped concrete deck or over metal deck with cover boards.

Features and Benefits:

■    TPO roofing is highly durable and resilient to wear and tear and other impacts of nature. This is because TPO will guard against the growth of mold, tears and punctures, and dirt. TPO is flexible enough that it will be easily accommodate the structure moving or settling as time goes by.

■    TPO roofing is incredibly effective in resisting bacteria, debris, algae, and dirt, as well as ultraviolet and chemical exposure.

■    TPO is a lightweight and flexible properties, it is much simpler to install, as there as fewer seams. Less work and time spent on installing TPO translates into direct savings.

■    The TPO roofing improves energy efficiency and produces monumental savings on cooling fees, and is good for the environment.

■    The TPO roofing has a high solar reflectance.

■    The TPO roofing is a plasticizers free; does not contain liquid or polymeric plasticizers.

■    The Polyiso insulation foam board provides high R-value per inch.

■    The Polyiso insulation foam board is environmentally friendly.

Installation Guidelines:

Insulation, Underlayment, Placement and Attachment:

Insulation, Underlayment, Placement and Attachment:

Clean the substrate from loose debris. Make sure that substrate conforms to the project requirements.

Do not install more insulation/underlayment that cannot be covered by membrane in the same day.

Install insulation board's underlayment over the concrete deck, insulation boards must be staggered and butted tightly together with no joints or gaps greater than1/4 inch.

Secure all insulation boards to the metal deck or concrete deck with Adhesives or Fasteners & Insulation Fastening Plates ensuring that fasteners are secured to the concrete deck in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements and approved shop drawings.

Membrane Placement and Bonding:

Ensure that water does not flow beneath any completed sections of the membrane system by completing all flashings, terminations and daily seals by the end of each workday.

Unroll and position the TPO membrane without stretching. Allow the TPO membrane to relax for approximately 1% hour before bonding. Fold the sheet back onto itself so half the underside of the membrane is exposed.

Apply Bonding Adhesive with a plastic core medium nap paint roller to achieve continuous coating at the back of the TPO membrane & top of insulation boards. Do not apply Bonding Adhesive along the splice edge of the membrane to be heat welded over adjoining sheet.

Allow adhesive to dry until it is tacky but will not string or stick to a dry finger touch.

Fold back the un-bonded half of the sheet and repeat the bonding procedures. Apply Bonding Adhesive to the remaining exposed of membrane and complete this section as described above.

Install adjoining membrane sheets in the same manner, overlapping edges a minimum of 5cm to provide for a minimum 2.5-3.8cm heat weld. It is recommended that all splices be shingled to avoid bucking of water.

Heat weld the seams of TPO membrane sheets using the Automatic Heat Weld or Hot Air Hand Weld and silicone roller.

The seams must be mechanically tested with seam probing method to ensure the integrity / completion of the weld. Any imperfections must be rectified by hot air welding.

Membrane Termination:

Upper ends of membrane shall be terminated above roof finishing level (minimum 150mm) using extruded aluminum termination pressure bar, mechanically fastened at 300 O.C., and completely sealed with mastic sealant.

Storage Conditions:

Products must be stored in their original packaging under cool and dry conditions. They must be protected from direct sunlight & rain.

Adhesives, primers and sealants should be stored in a cool shaded storage or in air-conditioned containers
